Jai Olive Birth, Postpartum and Lactation Support

Jai Olive Birth, Postpartum, and Lactation Support are made just for you and your growing family. Services and support are evidence-based, client-centered, hands-on, and made with love and care. Packages can be selected separately or combined. Covid-19 restrictions may apply based on hospital, state, or county regulations. Virtual options are available and include additional check-ins.   

Jai Olive Postpartum Support

A Postpartum Doula assists a birthing parent and family in returning home after childbirth. I provide non-medical assistance with infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from childbirth, infant soothing, and coping skills for new parents.

 

A Postpartum Doula works with each family individually to determine their particular needs. Some of the postpartum services that a doula will perform include:

  • In-person lactation education, support, and assessment

  • Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD) Screening and referral support

  • Light housekeeping and running errands

  • Assistance with newborn care such as diapering, bathing, feeding, and comforting

  • Nutrition support, light meal preparation, and shopping

  • Belly binding, postpartum herbal healing, and support

  • Newborn comforting, grooming, and soothing techniques

  • Family adjustment support, and sibling care and bonding

  • Referrals to local resources such as but not limited to parenting classes, pediatricians, lactation support, and other parenting support groups

  • FREE AFTER BABY BOX POSTPARTUM GIFT SET

Fee Structure: 

Booking a minimum of 5 hours is required and allows for a quality of service to the birthing person, partner, and their baby. 

*Doula is Infant & Child First Aid/CPR/AED trained

*Combining the Birth and Postpartum Doula support packages is highly recommended

Sweet Milk & Oats Lactation Support

I am a Certified Lactation Specialist (CLS). Completed over 100 hours of training and assisting families. My role is to assist a birthing parent and family with evidence-based feeding options for your child/children. I provide non-medical support and education on chestfeeding, assist in navigating chestfeeding challenges, returning to work and feeding plans, and provide chestfeeding assessment, resources, and referrals. Support also includes safe formula feeding, returning to work, helping with expressing milk, storing milk, and more. 

This package can be offered in-person and virtually

A CLS works with each family individually to determine their needs related to newborn feeding and lactation.

As your Lactation Specialist, I provide:

  • Complimentary consultation included via in-person, phone, FaceTime, or Google Hangouts

  • Two in-person and regular check-in sessions via phone (based on need)

  • Connecting to parenting and lactation groups locally and nationally

  • Assessment of latching, monitoring by infant weight, and feeding

  • Two in-person/virtual counseling and education for chestfeeding parents

  • Nutritional support and boosting milk supply strategies

  • Guidance on positioning, pumping, milk storage, feeding cues, and more

  • Provide evidence-based information regarding breastfeeding and medications, tobacco use, alcohol, and illicit drugs

  • Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD) Screening and referral support

  • Access to Sweet Milk & Oats Lounge client portal

Additional cost for in-home visits outside the service area. 

Black & Birthy: Childbirth Education Series for Black Families

Pregnancy can be a time of excitement and worry for any expecting parent. There’s a lot of information you’ll need to keep you and your baby healthy, both during pregnancy and after the baby arrives. EveryStep’s Healthy Start & Empowerment Project is sponsoring FREE childbirth education classes for Black families, where you’ll find support and education for your pregnancy and parenting journey. Courses will take place in person at Calvary Chapel in Des Moines, IA.

Topics will include:

  • Birth plan options

  • Communicating with your provider

  • Nutrition

  • Labor and delivery

  • Infant feeding

  • Emergency and medical procedures

  • Postpartum recovery and beyond

 

To sign up, participants must:

  • Identify as Black.

  • Be enrolled in an EveryStep program or the doula program with MCH/Title V.

  • Speak English (Interpreter will be available)

  • Be pregnant, with preference going to individuals in their 2nd or 3rd trimester.
