4 Pillars of Yoga:
Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, and Diet

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence,
it is self-preservation
and that is an act of political warfare.”

Kindred Soma Yoga by Jai Olive is the movement for the culture. Soma Yoga combines traditional yoga practices, resting and breathing, therapeutic yoga, the re-education of the mind-body connection, holistic medicine (Ayurveda), and shadow work.

Hi! I'm Jazzmine. Not only do I doula, but I'm a yogi. I started my yoga practice in college and used tools from yoga to reconnect, re-member, and re-balance my physical, mental, and spiritual self. Originally diagnosed with scoliosis at the age of 9, I wore a body brace that restricted my movements and the continued curving of my spine. Since then, I have suffered chronic muscle fatigue, compressed nerves, back spasms, overactive pelvic floor, and lower back pain and stiffness. Practicing Soma Yoga has improved my movements and posture. My body responds well to the practice, and I've gained confidence in understanding and acting on what my body needs most. I found a practice that models many of my core beliefs, centers my identities, and supports me lead a better life without chronic pain.

Soma Yoga allows us to become aware of patterns in our bodies that cause pain and limit our movement. With greater awareness of these patterns and small, specific movements of the shoulder, torso, pelvis, and spine, we can learn to release chronic muscle tension and increase freedom of movement. SomaYoga empowers you to use various tools to live well.

I am certified in 200-hour level Yoga Training in the Himalayan Tradition and was awarded this certification by Yoga North's International SomaYoga Institute in Duluth, Minnesota.

The groups will center on BIPOC and diverse individuals and families across the country. This space centers and affirms ALL bodies, abilities, and healing spectrums.

I've learned some wonderful ways to incorporate movement, restorative practices, and self-reflection in pain-free ways. I can't wait to show you.

What is Soma Yoga?

How Black Women Have Historically Used Yoga as a Tool for Healing

"Krishna Kaur, a Black pioneer in Kundalini Yoga highlighted in the piece, attested that by practicing yoga, Black Americans could find amity and restore a sound mind from the centuries of anguish they’ve faced. Kaur believes that the fight for freedom and societal development begins with yoga: "The revolution is really one of the mind. Blacks have got to realize where the power really is. The struggle is not on a physical level. It is on the level of the mind.
